Founded in 2013, The ACE Project promotes positive youth development through building social and emotional competencies, athletic ability, and educational fortitude. The organization provides free after school programming for children in grades K-5 attending low-performing schools. A majority of the sites offer tennis-only programming, while the flagship Chicago-based site offers comprehensive programs which includes nutrition, homework assistance, social emotional skill groups, tennis, and math enrichment. The ACE Project’s goal is to cultivate and sustain funding that will allow all sites to implement the comprehensive program model.
The ACE Project seeks dynamic, self-starters to coach summer tennis programs and develop community engagement opportunities in Baltimore City. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of program implementation for fast-growing, community-based nonprofit organization. The intern will report to the program manager; ideal candidates will be energetic, inventive, hard working, collaborative, and brimming with ideas about creative ways to engage under-resourced communities in the organization’s mission.
Daily responsibilities will include coaching youth on the fundamentals of tennis; assisting in the planning and delivery of daily activities; track student progress on specific skills. Further daily responsibilities may or may not include community engagement, particularly in partnership with So What Else, Inc; sharing pictures, videos, and other content for social media usage; assisting with the evolution of our evaluation matrix; and collaborating on new ideas and directions for program implementation based on outreach activities.
Interns will be expected to work 10 hours per week; they will receive payment as well as college credit for this position.
